Activités scientifiques

Thématique de recherche

My research interests concern the resolution, l & rsquo; experimentation, numerical simulation from mechanical and mathematical modeling of complex problems of very large sizes.

Anciens projets de recherche ANR (see "Details of some research projects")

  • 2009–2011 Le projet CIP Calcul Intensif Pair à pair – http://www.laas.fr/CIS-CIP/, initiated within theInstitute of Computer Science of Toulouse (IRIT) toNational School of Electrical, of Electronics, Hydraulics of Informatics and Telecommunications (ENSEEIHT) - National Institute of Polytechnic (INP) (équipe TCI – Traitement et Compréhension d’Images) (Pierre Spiteripierre.spiteri @ enseeiht.fr), aimed to provide tools and environments for the implementation of computationally intensive architecture peer to peer networks. Les partenaires du projet étaient le LAAS-CNRS (Toulouse), the LIFC(Montbéliard), MIS ex Laria (Amiens), and EuroMedTextile (industry association).
  • 2008-2009 Istar project : http://www.i-star.fr (2007-2010), initiated within the Interactive Computing Laboratory toNational School of Civil Aviation (Stéphane Chattystephane.chatty@enac.fr), aimed to develop and evaluate a solution for interoperability GUIs, on the basis of a "runtime" (virtual machine) running the programs described in a semantic model dedicated to interactive components. The semantic model has been designed based on a model that organizes an interactive application components into a tree whose leaves are graphic objects, behavior, actions, or algorithms (see Figure 2). Partners were LRI (Orsay), IntuiLab (SME-Toulouse) et Anyware Technology (SME-Toulouse).
  • Durant mon DEA, j’ai travaillé sur un micro-noyau embarqué, real-time and distributed.
My job was to create a bridge between model-grained and coarse-grained model (the CGM - Coarse Grained Multicomputers model) order to use computer clusters. An algorithm developed for this model consists of local computations using, is possible, algorithms and optimal sequential rounds of communication whose number must be independent of the size of data to be processed. This model is economical because it is independent of the actual architectures and allows reuse of efficient sequential algorithms, which makes it very portable. It has been proposed CGM solutions to research problems of the longest increasing subsequence, the longest common subsequence two words, the longest repeated suffix each character of a word and repeat. We have attempted to extrapolate the results of our work in order to predict which adaptations of systolic architectures to the CGM model are possible..

Détails de certains projets de recherche

  • The CIP Supercomputing Peer to peer project helped develop an environment for the implementation of computationally intensive peer architecture on a par with fully decentralized, which is designed for large applications of numerical simulation and optimization with a task parallelism and requires frequent communication between machines (we are primarily interested in the resolution by iterative methods parallel or distributed). To facilitate programming and optimize performance, environment based on a set of communication operations reduced, otherwise the programmer does not have to specify the communication mode, the latter is fixed by the Memorandum so self adaptive and dynamic function of contextual elements of the network layer and indications on the iterative calculation favorite programmer within the application layer. Demonstrators have been made to operations research and numerical simulation. I was in charge of the deployment of a code to calculate financial mathematics and biology code solving coupled models. I worked on algorithms that perform the resolution by synchronous or asynchronous parallel methods of relaxation block or a method of subdomains with and without recovery. These methods need to implement collective communications in the original use of the platform peer-to-peer and adapt the code to use on a large scale. Problems were implanted in synchronous and, This is my most original, en asynchrone. Indeed, numerical simulation, discretization of boundary value problems involves solving large algebraic systems. But when used on a large scale, the waiting time due to the synchronization between the cooperating processes become disadvantageous. Asynchronous parallel algorithms can be considered to minimize losses due to time synchronization, without using the load balancing techniques. These are iterative algorithms where the vector components are updated in parallel iterated, in an arbitrary order and without synchronization. Restrictions algorithms are very low. More, mathematical models that describe the type of method used to take into account the maximum flexibility between the process and ensure, under certain assumptions, convergence iterative algorithms.
  • The Ishtar project allowed me to approach the UI analyzing a prototyping environment and human-machine interface development for the production of graphics and HMIs separating behavior, form of elements assembled in a tree, all of which are created through a Perl API or reading XML files. I participated in the first phase of the project was to identify scenarios of advanced applications and their deployment architecture, based on the experiences of developing HMIs by partners. These scenarios have been analyzed and used to select sample scenarios that have guided the project. I then participated in the establishment of the state of the art project that had the dual objective of allowing, listing in a review of recent HMI software technologies, to understand how the architectures proposed in recent trading systems could be useful to involve a comparative analysis of programming languages (paradigms) platforms and architecture (Libraries, virtual machines, distributed, microkernel). My goal was to bring my experience in parallel and distributed environments for the study of interactions in distributed environments. I am involved in designing a model that can handle collaborative interaction including live migration of interactions between remote terminals. I also worked on the system's ability to feel the presence of continuously communicating resources (ubiquitous system). Finally, I developed a graphics rendering layer in C using the concepts of the model using the QT toolkit component tree for a Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG).
